The homes
What N8 Homes Mean for Moving Day
Haringey Council's appraisal of the Crouch End conservation area says the streets east and immediately west of the town centre are mainly lined with terraces, with detached and semi-detached houses further south and west. It describes a "steep ridge of local hills" around Crouch End, reached by Crouch Hill and Crouch End Hill, and Edwardian mansion blocks such as Ravensdale Mansions (Haringey Council, Crouch End Conservation Area Character Appraisal, draft of 2010, checked 23 October 2026).
- Hills and parked-up streets affect where the vehicle can stop and how far the crew carries, so we check both in the assessment.
- Mansion blocks and converted houses can mean shared stairs and no lift. See our guide to moving out of a flat conversion.
- Our guide to moving to Muswell Hill and Crouch End covers the area in more depth.
Parking
Parking on Moving Day in Haringey
Haringey suspends parking bays for removals. Apply online, with an account, at least 2 weeks before the suspension starts. The fee is £80 per single car space per day plus a £280 administration fee, and suspensions only apply during the hours of the controlled parking zone (Haringey Council: apply for a parking bay suspension, checked 23 October 2026).
- N8 zones have short hours. Crouch End A is controlled Monday to Friday 10am to 12 noon, Crouch End B 2pm to 4pm, Hornsey North 8am to 6.30pm, Hornsey North East 10am to 2pm and Hornsey South 11am to 1pm, with parking free outside those hours (Haringey Council: all CPZ hours, checked 23 October 2026). Outside those hours a suspension may not be needed at all.
- The council puts up warning notices around 7 days before the start, and the removal vehicle needs a printed windscreen sign showing the company logo (Haringey Council: enforcing suspended bays).
- A daily permission to park costs £30 and covers resident, permit and shared-use bays on a street you choose, but not pay-by-phone-only bays (Haringey Council: permission to park, checked 23 October 2026).
- Find your zone on Haringey's CPZ map.
- Red routes are different. Councils don't suspend red routes. On TfL red routes, moving house is a listed reason for a dispensation: £48 a day per vehicle on red lines or £38 in a bay, with at least 6 working days' notice (TfL red route dispensations, checked 23 October 2026).
Tell us your street when you ask for a quote. In a zone controlled for only two hours a day, we may be able to time the loading around it.
