Removals in Hammersmith
Victorian terraces, mansion blocks, riverside lanes and zones that run seven days a week around the Broadway. We plan the parking, the loading and the carry before moving day.
The homes
Terraces, Mansion Blocks and the River
Hammersmith & Fulham Council's profile of the Brook Green conservation area describes homes "ranging from cottages to large town houses and a few mansion blocks", almost all late 19th century, including four-storey mansion blocks on Haarlem Road (LBHF, Brook Green Conservation Area Character Profile, checked 26 October 2026). The council's profiles of Hammersmith Grove and Ravenscourt & Starch Green describe Victorian villas and terraces, some now converted to flats, alongside later apartment blocks. By the river, the Upper Mall and Lower Mall area has narrow pedestrian lanes such as Mulberry Place (LBHF conservation areas, checked 26 October 2026).
- Terraces with semi-basements mean steps down as well as up, so we count both in the assessment.
- Villas converted into flats often have one shared staircase. See our guide to moving out of a flat conversion.
- Riverside lanes and footpaths can mean the vehicle stops some distance from the door, so we plan the carry and the crew size.
- Hammersmith Bridge has been closed to motor vehicles since April 2019, so moves across the river are routed another way (LBHF: Hammersmith Bridge, checked 26 October 2026).
Parking
Parking on Moving Day in Hammersmith
Hammersmith's zones don't all keep the same hours. Zone A, around Hammersmith Broadway, runs Monday to Sunday, 8.30am to 11pm, with a 2-hour maximum stay. Most of the residential zones nearby, such as K, L, M, J and I, run Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, but parts of K and M and all of JJ are controlled seven days a week. Parking is free outside the controlled times (LBHF: parking zone times and charges, checked 26 October 2026).
- Suspensions are booked online. For up to 6 bays for up to 3 days, the council needs 8 days' notice, counting weekends, with payment by midday on the deadline. It's £48 per 5-metre space per chargeable day for the first 5 days, and a chargeable day is one when the zone's controls would normally apply (LBHF: suspensions and road closures, checked 26 October 2026).
- So a weekend move in a weekday-only zone costs nothing to suspend on the Saturday or Sunday, and often needs no suspension at all.
- Loading: LBHF allows loading and unloading for up to 20 minutes in bays and on yellow lines, and says a removal vehicle may stop for longer than 40 minutes on a yellow line next to the property if loading is continuous and no loading restriction applies. Packing inside the property doesn't count as loading (LBHF: loading and unloading, checked 26 October 2026).
- Find your zone on LBHF's controlled parking zone map.
- The A4 (Great West Road) is part of TfL's road network, not the council's. Moving house is a listed reason for a TfL red route dispensation.
Tell us your street when you ask for a quote. We'll check the zone hours and advise whether a suspension is worth booking.
