The homes
Georgian Terraces and Victorian Villas
Islington Council's guidelines for the Highbury Fields conservation area describe "some of the finest Georgian terraces in the Borough" and "distinguished Victorian villas north of the Fields, from Highbury Hill to Aubert Park". Most properties have "front basement areas, protected by cast iron railings", and the council won't normally allow front entrance steps to be widened (Islington Council, Highbury Fields Conservation Area Design Guidelines, checked 26 October 2026). Further east, Highbury New Park was laid out in the 1850s with "grand detached and semi-detached houses", some since replaced by modern flats (Highbury New Park guidelines, checked 26 October 2026).
- Front steps over basement areas are part of most of these houses and can't be altered, so we plan the carry up the steps and protect the railings.

Parking
Moving Day, Zones and Match Days
Islington lets you park outside your home for a move: its moving-home page says "You can park outside your home when you are moving home free of charge", with conditions for liveried removal vehicles (Islington Council: parking to move home, checked 26 October 2026). N5 spans several zones with different hours, from 10am to 2pm on weekdays in zone G to 8.30am to 6.30pm on weekdays and Saturdays in zones H and J, so check yours with the postcode finder on Islington's controlled parking zones page.
- Arsenal home games change the rules. Islington adds extra controls in zones E, F, G, H, J, L, N, Q and V for Arsenal men's and women's home games and big events, with signs up to three days before, and some bays near the stadium can't be used (Islington Council: Emirates Stadium restrictions, checked 26 October 2026). We check the fixture list before we book your date.
- To guarantee a space, suspend a bay at least 14 days ahead. For residents it's £164.80 on day 1 for as many spaces as you need, then £62.25 per space on day 2 (Islington Council: suspend a parking bay, checked 26 October 2026).
- Loading on yellow lines without loading restrictions, and in resident and short-stay bays, is allowed for up to 40 minutes (Islington Council: loading and unloading).
- The A1 is part of TfL's road network, where Islington's moving-day rules don't apply. Moving house is a listed reason for a TfL red route dispensation.
